My body is an a$$hole.

My body is an asshole.
You read that correctly. Today is not a day where I am thankful for what my body can still do nor am I reminding myself that this pain flare too shall pass. Today is not a day where I’m using any coping skills.
Today is a day where I curse my body. Today is a day where I wonder how much more one body can take. Today is a day where I just want some relief, so desperately, but I know it won’t come.
Anyone who says you can always find a way to be positive with chronic pain is full of crap. And if they have a disability and say they are always positive, they are likely experiencing some heavy denial and avoidance.
The medical bills, the pain flares, the extreme fatigue where even eating becomes a huge task, the internalized ableism that screams at you– “you did a thing yesterday, why are you being lazy today?” All. Of. It.
It’s not pretty. It’s not glamorous. It’s not inspirational. It’s often crabby, messy, debilitating, frustrating, exhausting.
As much as I fully identify as being disabled, today I wish I was anything but.
